Mark Truett brings more than 20 years of industry experience

The Center for the Performing Arts has selected an experienced arts marketing and brand management professional to serve as its new Vice President of Marketing & Communications.

Effective Jan. 30, Mark H. Truett will come to the Center from the Society for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas, where he is director of marketing. In a career spanning more than 20 years, his previous posts have included director of marketing and external communications at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas; senior director of southwest region marketing for Key Brand Entertainment (Broadway Across America); and marketing manager for the Houston Ballet.

In his role at the Center for the Performing Arts, Truett will oversee strategic planning, development and execution of the marketing, advertising, communications and audience engagement initiatives of the nonprofit Center and its affiliated organization, the Great American Songbook Foundation. The Center is marking its sixth season of presenting events and hosting six resident companies at its Palladium, Tarkington and Studio Theater venues.

Jeffery C. McDermott, interim President and CEO for the Center and the Foundation, said Truett was a clear choice for the post after a national search.

“Mark has the full spectrum of skills and expertise we need, from traditional and digital marketing to strategic planning to team leadership,” McDermott said. “He will be a key member of our senior administrative and management team.”

Truett holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from the University of Houston.
