Young professionals group focuses on the arts

Carmel, Ind. (October 28, 2011) – The Scene, the new young professionals group at the Center for the Performing Arts, has finalized plans for upcoming activities and a membership drive.

This social and civic network, focused on connecting patrons within the ages of 21-40, plans events that pair socializing with the performing arts. The group offers First Monday Mixer events at restaurants and bars. As an added benefit offered by The Scene, memberships are available that guarantee season-long exclusive ticket promotions to performances presented by the Center.

“The Scene provides a great environment to develop new friendships and the chance to meet people with a shared interest in the arts. Many young professional groups cater to career development. Professional networking is a great benefit of The Scene, but what sets us apart is that our focus is on fostering enjoyment of music and the performing arts,” said Anne O’Brien, marketing manager for the Center for the Performing Arts and an organizer for The Scene.

The group attends specific performances together and then enjoys a social event with other young professionals before or after the show. The $45 membership is optional but the benefits include one free ticket to a performance, exclusive ticket rates all season long, volunteer opportunities and special events.

The Scene’s calendar of outings also includes First Monday Mixers. These free gatherings provide guests the opportunity to mingle in a casual after-work atmosphere. The First Monday Mixers, offered at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of the month, are held at restaurants and venues in Central Indiana. RSVPs are not needed.
